It showcases the famous artist of the 20th century, Louise Bourgeois, painter, sculptor, and printmaker. The film features her in a studio, telling about her life and how she brought about a change in the world of art.

In the Mirror of Maya Deren

This is again a documentary film directed by Martina Kudlácek, which features filmmakers like Jonas Mekas and Stan Brakhage, who talk about Maya Deren, a writer turned into a filmmaker in the 1940s and 1950s. They talk about her ambitions, life, and how she has influenced a generation of artists. They mention her groundbreaking Avant-garde film “Meshes of the Afternoon” as well.

Pollock is an American biographical film directed by Ed Harris. It delineates the life of an American painter Jackson Pollock. The movie deals with the ups and downs of Pollock’s life and his physical labor of paintings being socially and emotionally challenged. While Harris takes on the lead role of Jackson Pollock, several other notable actors like Robert Knott, Molly Regan, and Marcia Gay Harden are seen in supporting roles.

At Eternity’s Gate

Yet another biography featuring the life of a renowned artist, Vincent van Gogh, is portrayed beautifully by director Julian Schnabel. The story revolves around the personal and professional life of the famous artist as he lives his life in Arles and Auvers-sur-Oise, France. Willem Dafoe has portrayed the lead character beautifully while actors Rupert Friend, Oscar Isaac, and Mads Mikkelsen did more than justice to their roles as well.

Never Look Away

Never Look Away is the biography of a German artist, Kurt Barnert (portrayed by Tom Schilling), who escapes East Germany to live in West Germany. However, simply moving to a different location was not enough; the artist is still tormented by the horrors that he had to suffer as a child under the Nazi regime.
