What You Need to Know to Get Started in WoW Classic

WoW Classic has some stark differences compared to today’s version.

When starting out in this old school rendition of the popular MMORPG, there are a few things that you will want to know about. So, before you start off hunting for WoW Classic gold and delving into dungeons, here are some fun facts about the game itself.

Getting Gold is Harder to Come By

If you are coming to Classic from World of Warcraft, then you will find that there is a stark difference with WoW Classic gold. Though it is much more valuable in Classic, this also means that it is a lot more difficult for you to get hold of it. You will need to partake in several hours of farming to make the gold you need, since items are more expensive. Flipping items at the Auction House is also an option, but you will need to commit a lot of time to it. Needless to say, getting to a point where you are rich is a rare commodity in WoW Classic, and is very hard to achieve.

Mounts Cost a Lot of Gold

So if you’re down for farming and selling everything in your WoW Classic bags to make gold, then maybe someday you can afford a mount. Like everything else in WoW Classic, mounts are very expensive, and will cost you a small fortune to even obtain. You need 100 gold just to get the level 40 Riding Skill, so even at level 40 you will see a lot of players at the same level that haven’t gotten to a point where they can own a mount themselves. Level 60 Riding Skill costs an eye-watering 1000 WoW Classic gold, so if you are lucky enough to have a mount in the game then you’ll be the envy of your peers.

Levelling Your Character is Tough

If you want to level up in your class, then you have to take part in class quests. These can lead to a huge chunk of your time in the game being taken up by quest chains that aren’t always entertaining to say the least. If you are playing as a rogue, then you will need to finish a quest chain just to get access to Poisons, whilst the Shaman has to partake in a series of quests to get Totems. So as you can see, you are going to need to take part in class quests as they are mandatory if you want to unlock new abilities and skills.

Since levelling is quite difficult in comparison to the new version of the game, you can expect to struggle with fighting more than one mob at once. You aren’t blessed with decent gear rewards so make the most of every upgrade you get.

That said, when you are getting to new levels, you will start to earn Talent Points. These are rewarded after each level going up to 60, which will offer new skills and ranks. You can learn new skills from your Class Trainer, where you can also get abilities and spells. These are available every two levels.

How Raids Differ

Raids in Classic are arguably its best feature. The 40-man raids are brilliant, and give you the opportunity to take on classic bosses such as C’Thun, Ragnaros and others. The obvious downside to this is being able to keep 40 players in a raid group. You aren’t able to just start raiding either, and you will have to complete a lengthy chain of quests in order to be have the privilege of getting into a raid.

It’s also worth noting that raid progression is something you need to work through. If you want to reach the higher tier raids, you are going to need to finish lower tier raids first. What’s more, raids require certain setups for your gear and class so that you can survive.

All of this may sound a bit doom and gloom, but it is merely to prepare you for what’s coming in WoW Classic. Not only that, but features like this are what made it so special in the first place. It makes you appreciate certain aspects a lot more, especially the likes of WoW Classic gold and such. This will give you first—hand experience of what to expect from WoW Classic, as you get to relive what fans did all those years ago. If you’re yet to try the game, then now is a great time for you to do so.
