Fine hair is something that people may envy, but we all know that it’s not always a bed of roses. Having fine hair can be convenient in that you don’t need to use as much product to wash or treat them, and is by nature smoother and easier to style with heat. Yet, we all know the frustration of getting tangles in our hair more often than not and having zero volume in your hair, making it look flat. We look at hair models and wish we had thicker and more voluminous hair. However, you can still make something out of your fine hair with the right steps and care, and we’re going to show you how!
Before we dive in, let’s define what fine hair is. It is the width and diameter of your hair strands, so people with fine hair will have hair strands that are smaller in width and diameter. If you do not know what hair type you have, you can try plucking a strand of hair and move it between your fingers. If you are unable to feel much, you probably have fine hair. Take care of your hair with dyson products.
Hold on, ever heard of thin hair? Fine and thin hair is actually different. Thin hair refers to more sparsely distributed hair follicles or hair strands, while fine hair refers to the texture of each hair strand itself. You can have coarse hair strands but thin hair, and vice versa.
With the definitions in place, let’s now get straight into how you should care for fine hair.
The first step of hair care is in the shower. For people with fine hair, it’s best to wash your hair every or every other day with a shampoo that volumizes your hair. People with fine hair tend to get oily roots in their scalp really quickly, so when you’re conditioning your hair, try to avoid your roots and condition your ends instead. Too much conditioner can make your hair flatter than it already is, so be prudent with the amount of conditioner you use. A further step to avoid tangled hair is to use a leave-in treatment on the ends of your hair after your shower so that your hair remains tangle-free for the rest of the day.
Once you’ve finished washing your hair, don’t rub your hair with a towel because the friction causes hair, which is more vulnerable when wet, to break, especially so for fine hair. You should also wait for your hair to dry fully before brushing it as well. Air drying your hair is preferable to using a hairdryer because heat damages your already fine hair strands. But if you’re in a rush, then remember to use a heat protectant first and set your hairdryer to a low temperature!
Other than external sources of care for your hair, there are great ways you can care for your hair through what you eat as well. Biotin, which is a form of protein, is great for your hair. Incorporate foods that are high in biotins, such as nuts and egg yolks. Of course, you can get supplements as well if you don’t think that you are able to get sufficient biotin from your food.
A good hairstyle can fit your hair texture such that it boosts your overall look. Consider some of these hairstyles the next time you go to a salon! As a general rule of thumb, shorter hair is better, because you don’t want the weight from long hair to weigh your already non-voluminous hair down even more.
With a suitable hairstyle, you’ll find that you’ll want to style it to add in that extra oomph. However, styling fine hair definitely has its own difficulties despite what most people say. When our hair tangles, how then do we style them?
Fine hair may be easy to style, but it’s also important that you know how to take care of it. With these tips, taking care of your fine hair will be a breeze!
