How to Make a Habit of Reading the Quran Daily

Here are a few techniques that I recommend we attempt if we want to develop a practice of reading the Qur’an everyday so that we don’t forget it, get closer to Allah, and perhaps receive the reward of Jannah (paradise).

Make a Sincere Intention

Before you begin, make a sincere desire to Allah that you wish to go on this path only for His pleasure. Making an intention, either verbally or mentally, guarantees that you receive the benefits of the activity and begin on a focused and good note. When you declare your desire to read the Qur’an on a daily basis, you are also committing to it with Allah as your witness. As you make the intention, ask Allah for guidance and the strength to continue reading the Qur’an on a daily basis.

Have a Plan

The next step is to plan the best approach to fulfil your objective of reading the Qur’an on a daily basis. You must determine how many verses or pages you wish to read every day. The Qur’an is composed of around 604 pages and 114 chapters split into 30 juz (parts). Depending on how much time you have available, you can commit to reading anything from a few verses to a whole page or more every day.

It is also vital to decide when you wish to read the Qur’an. To maintain consistency and prevent distractions, choose a time when you are not typically busy and can devote a few minutes every day to reading the Qur’an. If you do not drive to work, you can read while on the road. It’s also a good idea to do it before or after prayers. If you have a hectic day, schedule your reading for the evening, right before you go to bed.

If you find yourself always busy throughout the day, make a note of everything you do in a day and see what may be eliminated or altered to make time to recite the Qur’an. When you choose times when you have less work to accomplish, you have already removed the excuse of needing to run someplace, therefore postponing the recitation of the Qur’an.

Take Baby Steps

Rushing or biting off more than you can chew might quickly overwhelm you and discourage you from making it a habit to study the Qur’an on a daily basis. This is why it is recommended to read in little chunks, as much as you can manage. It is more productive and useful to read one page a day, every day, than to read one chapter in a day and then nothing for the following five days. When you become overwhelmed, you may begin to find excuses such as a lack of time, and before you realize it, you have postponed reading the Qur’an on a regular basis until you completely forsake it.

Remember that the objective is to develop the practice of reading the Qur’an on a regular basis, not to finish it by a specific time.

Get in touch with a religious teacher

You must confirm that the information you are reading is correct. Tanwin and dengnung are difficult to learn on your own. As a result, you should contact a religious instructor / Quran Tutor or anybody who has expertise reading the Quran so that they may help you and point out where you can develop, as well as your reading strengths and shortcomings.Learn some Arabic vocabulary

Memorizing the Quran without understanding its meaning is analogous to reading a novel without understanding its story. It is critical that you educate yourself on the meaning of fundamental Arabic terms so that you can at least understand what the Quran is saying. You can get a tafsir al-quran to help you as well as other translations such as English or Malay. Even memorizing just 300 words will cover almost 70% of the whole Quran! So, don’t squander your time. If you begin today, you will notice results very quickly! And we recommend you the Quran Easy where you can learn Quran with Tajweed.

Make dua

For whenever you want to accomplish something, always turn to Allah since He is in charge of everything and can lead you down the road that you desire. Tell Allah how much you want to improve, and He will listen to you and answer your requests, insya’Allah.

Best wishes, Muslim brothers and sisters!
