Three Careless Habits That Are Wrecking Your Smartphone

With how attached people are to their smartphones, one would think that they would be kept in better condition. But in reality, people are careless of their valuable property without even realizing it. If you want to be sure that you are taking the best care of your device, keep reading to learn about the three careless habits that are wrecking your smartphone so you can avoid them. And in case your phone is damaged and needs some repair, you can call expert repairmen from  Mr Again.

Using Your Phone Without a Phone Case or Screen Protector

From the moment you purchase your new phone and remove it from its secure packaging, you are exposing your phone to an environment with many obstacles: Hard floors, sharp edges, and puddled surfaces.

According to TIME, Americans have spent billions of dollars on phone repairs since the release of the iPhone in 2007. Without a warranty, a simple screen repair can cost you several hundreds of dollars from Apple and other big-box stores.

All of these accidents can be easily avoided with a quality case and screen protector.

Spending about $20-$40 on one can easily save you from having to spend hundreds on a phone repair.

Some of the top phone case brands that can protect your phone from a fall are OtterBox, Speck, and CASTiFY.

Buying Cheap Accessories

Even though $5 knock-off headphones from Wish and $1 charging cables from the gas station are appealing, they are not worth it no matter how cheap they are.

This is because even though these accessories do what they are intended to do (for short periods), they can permanently damage your phone. When using cheap cables specifically, you will start to notice your phone lose battery quickly and charge slowly. They can also cause board level damage by burning out a part that is called the power management chip. This can cause a good working phone to be rendered useless, and in the need of board level microsolder repair.

According to Mobile Fun, each device has a specific charger that provides the correct amount of power and if you don’t have the original charger you should always use a compatible one.

If you continue to use these cheap chargers, your phone’s performance will deteriorate and you will have to get a battery replacement, or in some cases, a new phone.

Other cheap accessories such as flimsy phone cases and pop-up grips will also contribute to destroying your phone due to its inability to cushion a fall and prevent a cracked screen.

To keep your phone around as long as possible, prioritize an accessory’s quality over its low cost or cool design.

Bringing Your Phone Around Water and Other Liquids

If you are overly attached to your phone, you may naturally bring it everywhere, emphasis on everywhere, you go even if that means in the shower.

Research shows that an estimated 90 percent of people drop their phones at least once every month. Many times, these phones are not faced with a cracked screen, but with water damage.

According to the New York Post, some of the most common places for someone to drop their phone are in their drink, pet’s water bowl, and toilet.

Even if a phone is quickly retrieved and put in a bowl of rice, it is sometimes not enough to repair a phone. In this case, you would have to get water damage service done by a tech repair shop.

One of the simplest and most obvious ways to prevent your phone from getting in contact with a liquid is to not bring it everywhere if you can help it. If you are in your own space, there is not much reason for you to bring your phone to the bathroom. When eating, there is no reason for you to browse directly over your cup or bowl. And why would you even take the risk of using your phone in a pool or tub?

Accidents happen and sometimes you can’t help them, but many times they can be prevented. To save yourself the stress and price of a smartphone accident, be sure to break the bad habits that can easily damage your phone.
