What I’m Doing to Broaden My Horizons

I’ve grown tired of the same old routine, so it’s time to expand my horizons with new activities! I would love to explore more fulfilling hobbies and live my life to the fullest—there is so much to explore, and I feel like I’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg.

Getting out there and seeing the world has always been on my bucket list, and now that I’m finally taking action to realize my dreams, I’m sure that I’ll become the very best version of myself. Here are just a few ways I’m broadening my horizons!

Reading More Books

I’ve recently rediscovered my love for reading and have been diving into lots of new stories! I hadn’t seriously sat down with a book since high school, so this was an exciting new venture. Every day, I try to read at least one new chapter. I didn’t think that I would enjoy it so much!

Sadly, it can be tough to find an adult-oriented novel that’s fun to read, especially since there are so many self-help books out there. Still, I do enjoy reading nonfiction because it gives me some perspective on unique topics. I particularly enjoy books that cover spirituality and unfamiliar religions. There is so much to learn out there!

Traveling to Experience More

Although COVID has made just about everything more difficult, I’ve decided to travel more. There are so many places to go, and I’d like to visit at least 6 continents in my lifetime. Getting away from the city is great for the mind; I think it’s because of the change in scenery. Plus, when you travel, you don’t have to worry about work or other obligations!

There is an ocean of cultures out there, and it’s rewarding to make new friends and learn about different ways of life. In fact, I’ve kept in touch with a few people from my previous travels. We video chat often, and some of them have taught me bits and pieces of their language. Currently, I’m buckling down on learning French, which I think is the most romantic language of all!

Caring About My Looks

Taking care of yourself is another excellent way to broaden your horizons. Lately, I’ve been paying special attention to my appearance, and I don’t plan on stopping. It’s a lot of fun to go on shopping sprees and fill my wardrobe with colorful, trendy outfits!

Not too long ago, I only wore hoodies and sweatpants and barely took the time to do my hair in the morning, but now, I always look refreshed and ready to go. On that note, I’ve also decided to schedule a mini facelift to maintain a youthful, vibrant appearance!

Starting a Crafts Business

The internet is such a great tool because it allows anyone to do anything they want! One thing I’m looking forward to doing is setting up my own crafts business. I’ve sold a handful of creations to my friends, and have been making pottery since grade school, but I’d like to take things a step forward and make money with my skills.

Growing an online shop will provide so many wonderful possibilities. What’s more, the Internet has a colorful community of art enthusiasts, so one day, I may be able to team up with others to create some true masterpieces. For now, though, I’m still trying to get my name out there—there’s no point in counting my eggs before they hatch!

Getting Outdoors More Often

I would love to get more in tune with Mother Nature by camping and going on hikes with friends. I’ve spent too much time indoors, which hasn’t been good for my mind or body. City people like me tend to take the outdoors for granted, which is a shame, because it’s great for you! We aren’t young forever, and there is no time like the present to take advantage of life’s bounties, so I’m going to relish the beautiful scenery while I can still enjoy it.

Next up: birdwatching and walking on the beach
